Christian “Rashad” Pollard is a Mississippi native who has been actively involved in helping to end the HIV epidemic for the past 12 years. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community himself, Rashad is an ally for those who need representation. Rashad worked several years as a senior HIV Outreach Specialist II at Adult Special Care Clinic, Mississippi’s largest Ryan White grant-funded clinic prior to transitioning to Express Personal Health Prevention Clinic. Both outpatient, ambulatory clinics are part of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, the state’s only academic medical center. Rashad is certified through the NHA as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician, and holds a state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Rashad has completed extensive training on important topics that impact both people with HIV and those at risk for HIV, including: Motivational Interviewing (MI), Counseling on HIV Prevention,Patient Advocacy, and the importance of HIV Prevention. Rashad has also obtained his HIV PrEP Navigation Certification (HIVPNC). Rashad lives in Jackson with his partner and three precious Yorkies: August, Ava, and Sophie.
