Leandro Mena

Leandro Mena is a clinician-researcher and public health advocate with expertise in the prevention and clinical management of STIs and the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). He served as the Director of the Division of STD Prevention where he managed the implementation and evaluation of CDC-supported sexually transmitted infections (STI) prevention programs in the United States. He has held numerous positions over his 30+ year career in the fields of public health and medicine in academia, research, and professional association management. His interests include understanding the dynamics of STI transmission in racial/ethnic, gender, and sexual minorities, as well as the development and provision of culturally competent quality health services to these populations.

Leandro obtained a Doctor in Medicine from the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
