New Guidelines for HIV Prevention with Persons with HIV
This week CDC, HRSA, NIH, the American Academy of HIV Medicine, the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care, the National Minority AIDS Council, and the Urban Coalition for HIV/AIDS Prevention Services (UCHAPS) issued Recommendations for HIV Prevention with Adults and Adolescents with HIV in the United States, 2014. This guideline updates the 2003 guideline, Incorporating HIV Prevention into the Medical Care of Persons Living with HIV: Recommendations of CDC, HRSA, NIH, and the HIV Medicine Association of the Infectious Diseases Society of America. The new guideline compiles new and longstanding federal recommendations about biomedical, behavioral, and structural interventions to reduce HIV transmission from persons with HIV.
Three Summaries list the subset of recommendations for each of the guideline’s audiences: clinical providersnonclinical providers, and health department staff. An online resource library includes links to practical implementation resources, such as decision-support tools, fact sheets for providers and persons with HIV, and training materials: http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/prevention/programs/pwp/
