NMAC’S Capacity Building Program

nmacLINCsm-1NMAC’s capacity building assistance (CBA) program is called Linking and Integrating Networks for Collaboration (LINC). LINC provides capacity building assistance to community-based organizations, healthcare organizations, health care providers, and HIV navigators. LINC offers free training, technical assistance, and resources to CBA participants.

What is Capacity Building?

Capacity building is an investment in the effectiveness and future sustainability of a nonprofit.  It’s about the nonprofit’s ability to deliver its mission effectively now, and in the future. When capacity building is successful, it strengthens a nonprofit’s ability to fulfill its mission over time, thereby NMAC’s capacity building focuses on three components—“Who” our CBA services target, “What” capacities we focus on, and “How” our CBA services are delivered.

Why is Capacity Building Important?

While frequently invisible, and often overlooked, capacity building is the all-important “infrastructure” that supports and shapes nonprofits into vital entities within their communities and the public health sector. Capacity building enables nonprofit organizations and their leaders to develop competencies and skills that can make them more effective and sustainable, thus increasing the potential for them to enrich lives and address society’s most intractable problems.
