Angela Velarde graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in May, 2015 with degrees in Public Health and Business, Organizations, and Society. Ms. Velarde has participated in internships in Pennsylvania, California, and India – teaching science classes, organizing volunteers, and fundraising for various groups and non-profit HIV organizations. In 2013, Angela had the opportunity to intern at a non-profit organization in India where she helped get more individuals, residing in slum communities, tested and on antiretroviral medications. Angela currently works for a boutique agency, Octane Public Relations and Advertising, that partners along with the DC Department of Health on a campaign called—DC Takes on HIV. This campaign provides DC residents the latest information on HIV, treatment & care, and HIV testing site locations in the District.
