All participants of HIV/STD Action Day must participate in a series of three webinars. These webinars will provide an overview of Action Day’s activities, tools for Congressional engagement, and answer registrants questions and concerns. We strongly encourage all Action Day participate in at least three of the scheduled webinars. The schedule, content, and times of webinars are as follows:

August Recess – Advocacy In Session

This webinar will focus on how to protect our programs during the August recess. Members of Congress will be back in their districts, and they need to see and hear about the impacts of their work. This webinar will share tools and strategies for how to mobilize and build power to protect what we’ve fought for all these years. We will give strategies around how to meet with your member of Congress, work with other coalition, and make sure your voice is heard this recess season. Also, share what other organizations have done to move the needle and approach congressional members.

50+ Orientation*

This session will focus on funding priority and concerns for people living with HIV and who are 50+. It is designed to jump start preparation for in district and Hill meeting to correspond with HIV/STD Action day.  We will review the materials that will be packets for members and their staff. Discuss key issues that affect those who are over 50+. Also, there will be a discussion about how to bring the stories of those living with and affected by HIV that are over 50+ into effective messages for the policy space.

Youth Initiative Orientation**

This dynamic, interactive webinar will focus on making sure the key needs of one of those most affected populations are heard in this year’s Action Day. This is a chance to understand how to merge the passion and experiences of young people into a message that can help move a Hill audience.
