The National Minority AIDS Council's (NMAC) Men's Institute of Leadership Excellence and Service (MILES) program is an innovative leadership program aimed at enhancing the capacity of leadership staff, particularly African American MSM within Community Based Organizations (CBOs) that serve African American gay, bisexual and other MSM.

The two (2) day curriculum focuses on important aspects of organizational development and program sustainability, while also providing fundamental training on Leadership Development, Workforce Development, Program Collaboration and Service Integration (PCSI) and Evaluation. The training will also incorporate aspects of Franklin Covey's flagship leadership development program, Great Leaders, Great Teams, Great Results, John Maxwell's Concepts of Leadership and Connection, coupled with project management and time management.

These trainings will build on research and suggested leadership strategies developed by the LGBT Movement Advancement Project (MAP), which is a set of recommendations that is the result of the largest national study on strengthening leadership within LGBT nonprofit leadership.

MILES employs the idea of creating an approach to systematically develop LGBT nonprofit executives that are sensitive to workforce development needs through exploring effective leadership recruiting and managing techniques to attract great people, cultivate them and keep them. Moreover, we will address how to create strategic priorities around cultural sensitivity and competency within a LGBT organization.
