Division of Community Advancement and Leadership Strategies (D-CALS)

Provides capacity building assistance to improve the ability of community-based organizations, health departments,  and community planning groups  to operate optimally and become sustainable entities in order to reduce the burden of HIV infection in the United States. The goal of D-CALS is to effectively address the varying environmental changes, constituent needs, and funder priorities as well as to optimize NMAC’s ability to be strategically positioned for new endeavors.  D-CALS implements programming that incorporates effective strategies for organizational change management, transformative leadership,  cultural intelligence, social media and emerging technologies.

The National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC), a 501(c)3 organization, develops leadership in communities of color to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Since 1987, NMAC has advanced this mission through a variety of programs and services, including: a public policy education program, national and regional training conferences, a treatment and research program, numerous electronic and materials and a website: http://www.nmac.org/. NMAC also serves as an association of AIDS service organizations providing valuable information to communitybased organizations, hospitals, clinics and other groups assisting individuals and families affected by the AIDS epidemic.
