What Should You Expect at the West-Coast Conference
on Sustainability Strategies? Two 2-day conferences
are planned to give community and faith-based organizations a competitive edge
in Risk Management, Effective Network Building, Financial Management, Fund
Development, Program Development, and Leadership Development. The cutting-edge
sessions focus on developing organizational sustainability. The
new SOAR training series provides “state-of-art” knowledge in our selected
capacity building categories for the nonprofits we serve. Based on time-tested
strategies and tips for growing, developing, and sustaining nonprofits, the
revised training packages offer important skills and abilities for
community-based organizations to increase their efficiency and
effectiveness.
Who Can Attend?
The two regional training
conferences, under the SOAR Training Initiative, are exclusively for
community-based organizations (CBOs) directly and indirectly funded by the
Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), State Health Departments and
their funded CBOs, and Key Stakeholders providing HIV/AIDS services to
African-Americans in the United States.
What Specific Deadlines

483-4568. We are not accepting “call in” telephone registrations. A completed
Registration Form is required for official acceptance and participation. Seating
for the conference covering two (2) days of training will be limited to the
first 50 registrants. Registration will therefore be based on a
“first-come-first-serve” basis and acceptance of registration requests may be
denied before the deadlines of submitting registration forms. Thus,
organizations are encouraged to register before the deadlines to secure
attendance at these special events. Once occupancy goals are met, we will not be
able to accept any more registrations if they arrive before the deadlines.
Will Assistance Be Available?
Expenses and allowances
will be provided on a limited basis and according to eligibility criteria
determined from reviewing completed applications. Air, train, and bus travel
will not be covered under expenses and allowances. However, per diem will be
covered based on government city rates, hotel and garage parking, shuttle or
taxis travel to and from the event, car travel at .55 cents per mile (Mapquest
documentation required) or up to $100 dollars round trip car travel.
Reimbursements for expenses require receipts if payments are expected,
except for per diem where receipts are not required. Invoices will be paid
within 30 business days of receipt of them. Only one participant per
organization or state department official or CBO referral will be eligible to
attend the special 2-day regional conferences. However, based on available
seating, an additional one or two participant from the same organization or
state agency may attend on a “stand-by” basis.

Notified?
NOTE: We are not
accepting “call in” registrations. Applicants can fax (202- 483-5387), register
on-line, or mail their Registration Forms to NMAC.
