Positive Futures: HIV, Employment and Vocational Rehabilitation in 2009 addresses critical counseling, benefits, training, public policy and employment issues of people with HIV/AIDS (PWHA). In 2009, the need to reduce poverty, social isolation and marginalization of PWHA is imperative, while our communities are confronted with high levels of unemployment and job losses. This institute will help attendees learn about existing employment services, how to overcome barriers to employment, and get connected to a national network of PWHA, service providers and others committed to addressing the vocational needs of PWHA.

The National Working Positive Coalition (NWPC) is a coalition of individuals living with HIV, service providers, researchers, and advocates who are committed to improving the financial and personal wellbeing of individuals living with HIV and AIDS. To achieve this goal we (a) promote research to better understand the financial needs and complex challenges facing individuals with HIV; (b) promote the development and evaluation of effective practices in employment services and (c) advocate for work options and access to financial resources that are most consistent with the personal and health needs of individuals living with HIV.
