Below is recent updated information about the Act Against AIDS campaign.

Good afternoon,

Thank you again for joining forces with us—DHAP, NCHHSTP, and CDC—to turn the HIV/AIDS epidemic around in our African American communities and to lessen the disproportionate burden that Black men, women, and young adults bear. As the network of leaders, organizations, and individuals committed to our nation’s Heightened National Response (HNR) continues to grow, we are optimistic that your efforts and our efforts will help steady and stem the rising trajectory of the epidemic.

HNR partners continue to lead, finding innovative ways to spread HIV and AIDS prevention messages throughout the country. We are proud of our partnership with you and of your successful work to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS, promote HIV testing, and reduce HIV risk in your communities.

In the May issue of ACT!ON, you will learn about Act Against AIDS, a new national HIV prevention communication campaign that aims to increase awareness of the impact of HIV/AIDS in the United States, promote HIV testing among African American men and women, and combat myths and misperceptions that contribute to the spread of HIV among blacks and other disproportionately affected populations. We also invite you to read about six new evidenced-based behavioral interventions, four of which directly address the needs of different populations of African Americans.

We hope the newsletter also provides additional information and opportunities for inspiring you and furthering our collective action to reduce the burden of HIV and AIDS in the United States.

You have your choice of reading the attached PDF or going directly to the HNR newsletter website.

If you have any questions, always feel free to contact us at hnr@cdc.gov .

Best wishes from all of us at CDC.
