HIV/AIDS Stigma and Access to Care
This
two-day training is designed to educate service providers serving in
communities of color on strategies needed to address HIV/AIDS-related stigma.
The training will cover:
- The definition and origin of stigma in our
society
- The impact of stigma on an individual’s
decision-making process and how it deters him or her from seeking HIV
testing and counseling services
- How stigma affects access to care and disclosure
of positive sero-status
- Participants will also learn how to use personal
and organizational strategies to reduce HIV/AIDS–related stigma and
stigmatizing practices directed towards communities of color, specifically
women and gay/MSM of color.
