Bernard Telsa

My name is Bernard I work in Case Management for Volunteers of America Greater Baton Rouge. My unit is MAI which was established as a more hands on style of Case Management for individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS that have either fallen out of care, newly diagnosed, or recently released from incarceration. Once the individual has been connected to care I transfer them to regular Ryan White case management. Before leaving my case load my client will be able to navigate the HIV system, VL suppressed, CD4 over 300, housing issues resolved, employment, or connected with SSI or SSD benefits basically able to care for themselves. I’m also a OPH raided counselor/tester and participate in outreach for the MSM and Transgender communities. I hope to expanded my network and knowledge on the epidemic that is HIV/AIDS by attending this year’s conference as a youth scholar! I am extremely grateful for this opportunity!
